NEET Eligibility Criteria - All You Need to Know

The competition of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET exam has always been hardcore. And that’s why it is very important that the candidates become more conscious about their grooming. Criteria #1: Nationality & Citizenship
To be eligible in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test the candidates who meet any of the below conditions are considered eligible for the exam.
  • A candidate who have the citizenship in India
  • Indians who are non-residents (NRIs)
  • Citizen of India who lives overseas (OCI)
  • A person who is of Indian origin (PIO)
  • Foreign Nationals

The important thing to keep in mind is that the 15% all India quota seats are applicable for all the categories of nationality. But the people of UT and J&K are not eligible. However, these candidates can appear in the exam by submitting a self-declaration online. If the declaration is false then the submitter will get a penalty.
Criteria #2: The Age Limit of the Participants
  • For the candidates who aren’t upto or above 17 years before December 31st of the first year of admission in UG medical course are not eligible.
  • The upper age of the candidate must not be more than 25 years at the exam date. But there is an exception of 5 years relaxation for the SC/ST/OBC-NCL and PwD category candidates.

Criteria #3: The Academic Qualification
There are many candidates who have different educational backgrounds, thus, there are different criteria for those who have different qualifying degrees.
Code-1
A candidate who is appearing in the 12th class in 2020 and their result is awaited is eligible for the exam. But there is more, if the candidate qualified in the NEET exam but fail their 12th class till the first NEET counseling then they won’t be eligible for the admission if any MBBS/BDS Courses.
Code-2
Candidates who took the ICSE exam must study Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology with an effective subject such as Mathematics or any other with English in the last two years of their rest of the study time. But candidates of open school and private candidates are not eligible for this exam. Also, the students who have passed 10+2 with biology as an additional subject are eligible.
Code-3
Students who have passed intermediate/Pre-degree exam in Science from an Indian University or board or other dignified examination are eligible for the NEET exam.
Code-4
Those who have appeared in the pre-professional or pre-medical exam with PCB & English after passing 12th class are eligible for NEET.
Code-5
Those who had PCB & English in their 1st year of the 3 year degree course are eligible only if they are given the practical test in their core subjects.
Code-6
A B.Sc. pass out who had not less than two of these subjects- Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology is considered eligible.
Code-7
Participants of the examinations which are equivalent to the I.SC of Indian board can be eligible if they had PCB practice test + English are eligible for the exam.
