NEET 2021 - Here's What You Need to Know About the Examination

NEET 2021 is to be conducted in the first week of May 2021 via online mode. The National Test Agency (NTA) conducts the NEET entrance test every year to offer candidates admission into MBBS and BDS courses into reputable medical institutions across the country. The application process is going to start in the first week of December 2020.

Important Dates
Below is a list of NEET 2021 dates related to important events:

Application Release: 1st Week of December 2020
End of the application process: Last week of December 2020
Correction window: 3rd week to the last week of January 2021
Admit card availability: 4th week of March 2021
NEET 2021 examination: 1st Week of 2021
Availability of answer key: 2nd Week of May 2021
Result declaration: 1st Week of June 2021
Start of counselling: 2nd Week of June 2021

Application Form Details
Following are the details related to NEET 2021 Application Form:
  • Application process is to be conducted entirely via online mode.
  • Submit only one application form as multiple application submission may result in rejection.
  • At the time of registration, you need to register with your valid email id and mobile number as all the further communication or details will be sent to them.
  • The application process will be conducted in different steps – Online registration, filling up of application details, uploading scanned images or photographs and signatures, payment of application fee and printing of application & fee payment receipt.
  • In case you commit mistakes while filling the application form, you will be able to correct errors in the application details from the third week of January 2021 to the last week of January 2021.
  • You do not need to send an application form to the board. 

Application Fees to Pay
You can pay application fees via both online & offline mode. For online fee payment, use debit or credit card or net banking method. To pay via offline mode, use the SBI E-challan facility at any SBI branch. General / OBC candidates need to pay Rs.1400, while ST/ SC/ PWD/ Transgender candidates need to pay Rs.750.

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality:
Indian Nationals/Foreign/ PIO/ NRIs/ OCI candidates are eligible to apply through NEET to get admission in different Medical/ Dental institutions according to the framed regulations. Foreign nationals should confirm their eligibility clauses from respective Medical or Dental College.
J&K migrants are eligible to apply under the 15% All India Quota only via self-declaration.

Age Criteria:
As an applicant, you should have completed 17 years of age during admission or before 31st December of the admission year. There is no upper age limit and number of attempts to apply for NEET.

Qualification:
As a student, you should have passed 12th level or its equivalent from a recognized board or university with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Biotechnology and English as mandatory subjects in 12th.
General candidates should have obtained 50% marks taken together in PCB at the 10+2 level. 
If you belong to the unreserved/ ST/SC/OBC category, you should have obtained 40% marks.
As a PWD candidate, you should get 45% marks.
If you are a foreign national and are planning to take admission in medical colleges of are, you should have passed your 12th level with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Biotechnology & English subjects with 50% marks recognized according to MCI regulations.
If you are appearing in the 12th level examinations you will be also eligible to apply for NEET.

Examination Pattern
Here are the details about NEET Exam pattern:

Mode- Offline(Pen and paper)
Language- Various languages including English, Hindi, Gujarati, Bengali, Tamil, Marathi, Odia, Assamese, Telugu, Urdu and Kannada.
Time Duration- 3
Type of Questions- Objective type of questions.
Total number of questions- 180 questions.
Total marks- 720 marks.
Marking Scheme- 4 marks for each correct answer. 1 mark is to be deducted for every wrong answer.

Below is the distribution of questions and marks for NEET paper: 
Physics - 45 questions(180 marks)
Chemistry - 45 questions(180 marks)
Biology(Botany or zoology) - 90 questions (45 – 45 each) of 360 marks.

Total: 180 questions of 720 marks

What are the Topics Included in Syllabus
Medical Council of India (MCI) prescribes the syllabus of Vedantu NEET 2021. You will be able to prepare for the entrance test from Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects studied in 11th and 12th standards.

Here are the topics included in the NEET paper:

Physics:
Laws of Motion, Electromagnetic Waves, Electrostatic, Behavior of Perfect Gas and Kinetic Theory, Electronic Devices, Dual Nature of Matter and Radiation, Properties of Bulk Matter and others.
