For the confused candidates who do not know which cut off to follow there are mainly two varieties of cut offs- qualification cut off and admission cut off. Only those candidates who fulfill the JEE main cut off can get the admission to IITs in India.
Cut off for admission: This will be applicable for the aspirant if he or she chooses to take admission to any colleges based in the JEE main obtained marks
Cut off for qualification: This modifies the candidate to appear in JEE Advanced.
The release of cut off marks from JoSAA is yet to happen, but it is said to be released in June, here you will have a calculation of the range of JEE main cut off. It is expected to be applicable for the current session admission.
These ranges are calculated by keeping in mind the following trends in the session of JEE main in the earlier years.
The OBC candidates range is between 38 and 60
SC candidates have the range between 28 and 42
The ST candidate range is between 25 to 38
So a candidate belonging to one of the categories can expect to get a B.Tech/B.E/B.Aech course. Candidates must sit for a counselling as per the regulation of JoSAA, for the admission in the IITs, IIITs, NITs and GFTIs in India.
To give a more solid answer, if you have the score range of 110+ you can be on the safer side. Even though you are too late for the January attempt, you are not late for the April session as you still have so much time in your hand. The cut off for the general category can be from 70 to 75 marks if we follow the previous years cut off result. However, if the question won’t rise then the cut off can be around 85 to 90 marks for this category because you would get more time for each question.
