What they don’t realise is that when they are well-versed with the basics, the rest of all other steps involved the preparation is very easy and less time-consuming. Do not start with the chapters that you had no idea about. This may affect your confidence level. Instead, start with the chapters in which you feel you can do well. However, make a point that you do not neglect any chapter by its difficulty level. Among the important chapters, there are also some tricky chapters that need a lot of your attention. For example, Polynomials, Probability, Surface Area and Volumes, etc. But these chapters are quite easy too after you understand the reason and the logic behind it. They have equal importance in your Class 9 exam, your 10th board exam, and also for your competitive exams like JEE, CAT, etc. The next step to take after you understand and are thorough with every chapter is that you understand and practice the problems in NCERT books that are given before the exercise (solved problems). After this, you should start solving your NCERT exercises. Try to solve all the exercises of Class 9 NCERT book on your own. In case if you find it difficult and are in need of solutions, you can find it over many websites. If you are looking for a particular chapter’s NCERT solutions, you can find it too. For instance, if you want solutions for Chapter Polynomials, you can search for NCERT solutions for class 9 maths chapter 2 and your solutions are just a click away. Now that you have the solutions and you have already tried solving all the exercises, you should repeat the steps overall again. By doing this, you will be able to find out the area in which you are weak. Once you get to know in which area you are weak, start working towards it. Daily keep time aside to master your weakest areas. The next important step when you are completely through with your syllabus is to start solving the previous year question papers. It is suggested that you solve at least 5-7 previous question papers so that you get a clear idea on the pattern of the questions that come in the exam. Besides, you will also know which chapter has more weight and you can prepare accordingly.

Furthermore, as said earlier, Class 9 Maths is necessary for your 10th exams too. Hence maintain good notes (of your school or your own notes) which you can refer to when you have doubts. Also, maintain a separate list of formulas for your time of revision.
